I paid $15 for it. I initially passed it up, then had time to research it, and when I realized how cool it was (in terms of drum machine history), I ran back and snatched it up.

Very interesting! I also just picked up a Side Man 5000, $10 at a church rummage sale. I am not a musician but I knew it appeared to be an early drum machine. It appeared to be in very nice physical condition, so I figured it would be worth at least $10 even if it didn’t work, or could make an interesting end table. It will need some work though.

I just brought it home and have not taken the cover off, but the light on top lights up, I can hear the motor turning, and there is a dim glow from the near the bottom, presumably from the tubes. Can’t wait to take the cover off to see what’s going on.

I do agree with you 100%, this band deserves a greatest hits at least!
A moment to remember, the title of the song is shown in the screen with a big spelling mistake “WaHt happens now”. And also as a gossip the guy with a mosutache used to be a cop!

Bark – a question for you:

Would you mind telling me what you paid for this unit at the thrift store? I have an old one of these in decent condition (cabinet is clean and unit still works although it can use some internal work) and I’m curious what I might be able to sell it for.

Great article! I just picked one of these up at a thrift store, and it just needs a little bit of repair, but is otherwise in great condition. Can’t wait to get it up and running.
